USE RESOURCES WISELY
A key tenant of Girl Scouts is using resources wisely. The January 9 Service Unit meeting provides multiple opportunities for the adults to participate in this tenant:
Bring unused or gently used Girl Scout materials, badges, patches or craft supplies you're ready to pass along to a younger troop; Browse and take what you need
Pick up 2'x3' foam core boards ready for reuse by your troop or Girl Scout
Clean Your Closets and bookshelves: Drop off gently used books, clothing (men's, women's children's, babies'), shoes, accessories (hats, mittens, scarves, ties, nylons, socks, purses, wallets, fanny packs, bags) and bed and bath items (towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, curtains, tablecloths) to benefit local troop activities
GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Celebrate the Lunar New Year getting your Girl Scout questions answered by experienced troop leaders on January 29, 7pm at Cupprimo on Spicewood Springs Road. Let us know you're coming by RSVPing here.
RECOGNIZE OUSTANDING VOLUNTEERS
Nominations for Girl Scout national, Central Texas Council and Service Unit volunteer and Girl Scout awards will be upon us soon. Watch your email for the nomination form link and deadline. In the mean time, we need a few volunteers to join the Awards Committee February 20 at 7pm on zoom for a quick review of the award categories, timeline and to discuss potential nominations from among previous awardees to nominate for National and Council awards. Email bluebonnetcirclesgs@gmail.com with questions.
WORLD THINKING DAY
Celebrated by Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world, join other Bluebonnet Circle Service Unite Girl Scouts to celebrate World Thinking Day on February 23, 2025.
ROXY & ME: VOLUNTEER & MY GIRL SCOUT CAMPOUT
Calling all volunteers! Are you looking for a chance to spend time with just you and your Girl Scout/s? This campout is for you. Immediately following cookie season, this weekend is designed with relaxation and connection in mind. Feb. 28-Mar. 2 at Bluebonnet Shores Girl Scout Camp in Belton, Roxy & Me is NOT a troop event, although an ATA will be needed for all troop members attending. The agenda is very much "choose your own adventure" and do as little or as much as you like. We will all participate in the camp service project, but after that, choose what you like: take a relaxing hike; participate in the GSCTX STEM mobile; check out the arts & crafts drop-in depot; join the campfire ring for s'mores; stop by a posted "meet up"; hang at your campsite; or sign up to kayak for an extra charge. This is also a good introduction to Girl Scout Camp for younger girls not sure about going without mom. Register here by January 19, space is limited.
GIRL SCOUTS IN ACTION
Bluebonnet Circle Girl Scouts are learning new skills and helping our community. Share you troop's activities with a few pictures and a couple sentences about your activities to bluebonnetcirclegs@gmail.com to be included in a future newsletter.
Cadette Troop 41165 volunteered with Pease Park Conservancy in December to help make the world a better place by weeding out unwanted plants.
This Autumn, Troop 41309 spent a day earning their cadette woodworker badge. They learned the tools of the trade, safety, measuring and using the equipment to make their own camp chairs.
